Donora Real Estate
Donora is located on the Monongahela River approximately 25 miles south of Pittsburgh in eastern Washington County. Part of the Mon Valley, this area has a huge amount of history due to the coal and steel industries. As a matter of fact, Donora is nicknamed The Cement City because of the style of housing provided to the steel workers at the time. It is also a well-known fact that two major league baseball players grew up in Donora, Ken Griffey Jr. and Stan Musial. Ringgold School District is a combination of many communities, including Donora, Finleyville and Monongahela. As a former mill town, Donora is part of a planned system to help restore the economic development through a community organization known as the Mon Valley Initiative. Whether you visit or plan on move into this community, you’ll notice the friendliness of the neighbors, the abundance of outdoor activities like kayaking, camping and hunting and a wealth of historical facts that add to the enchantment of the borough.
